Cultural Cambodia – ½ Day Adventure
From your hotel we venture into the countryside of Cambodia that surrounds Siem Reap. We visit a local wet market where the people do their daily shopping, stopping to taste some of the various fruits and food common to Cambodia.
From here we continue on to see the traditional Cambodian art of basket weaving. Mastered by the local women over decades, the money earnt from the sale in the markets helps to provide their families with much needed additional income. Then onto the heart of the region, the Wat Svay Romeat Pagoda, where you see and learn about the daily lives of the monks, and the importance that the pagoda plays in the lives of the Cambodian people. As educator, protector and leveler of society.
We finish with lunch (included), at West Baray, one of the largest handcut water reservoirs on Earth. BBQ lunch can include fresh water fish, chicken frogs, and fresh salads. This is where Cambodians come to play in the clear waters, after We stop at a local family house surrounded by rice paddies. Here we sip on a cold coconut or a local beer, meet the family and spend time with their friendly water buffaloes before returning to the city.
You’ll definitely return with a smile!
