One Day round trip,
After a good night’s sleep and then early morning start at 6 am, we are travel to Preah Vihear temple. It stands as the largest single religious complex ever built during the pre Angkorian Era, as its exterior enclosure is approximately 5 square km. Preah Vihear is a province which borders Thailand and Laos, and for many years has been a point of dispute and fighting between Thailand and Cambodia. From here, you can see the standing armies of the Thai and Cambodia nations as they watch each other, with guns and embattlements in place. Now thankfully quiet!. Stop for lunch (at your own account) at a local restaurant along the way.
Before we return to Siem Reap, we have the time to visit and explore Koh Ker (pyramid temple) complexes. Also known as the Lotus Pond temples, Koh Ker is a remote archaeological site in northern Cambodia about 207 kilometres away from Siem Reap and the ancient site of Angkor. It is a jungle filled region that is sparsely populated. More than 180 sanctuaries were found in a protected area of 81 square kilometres. Only about two dozen monuments can be visited by tourists because most of the sanctuaries are hidden in the forest and the whole area is not fully demined, Then, with cold drink in hand, we drive back to Siem Reap in comfort. To your hotel or dinner!
